The Nartel Family Foundation, based in Burton, east of Flint, was started by jeweler Werner Nartel in 1990. It began as the Nartel Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary due to Nartel’s interest in nature. Five years later, the foundation turned its’ focus to benefit the community and aid in charitable causes. Nartel supports the following five areas: children and education, medical and medical research, community outreach and Jewish and Christian faith-based programs, animal support, and local cultural activities.
