MitoAction logoNovi-based MitoAction is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to improve the quality of life of children, adults, and families living with mitochondrial disease, an inherited chronic illness that can be present at birth or develop later in life. The organization provides support, education, outreach, advocacy, clinical research initiatives, and grants wishes of children with the disease. It is estimated that one in 4,000 people have mito, which affects the parts of cells that help turn the energy people get from food into energy that the body can use. They are also important in the communication between body parts and in creating other materials the body needs.
