West Bloomfield Township-based Metro Food Rescue has one goal: waste less, feed more. It is a grass-roots food rescue team who collaborates with food partners such as Hazon Detroit to pick up fresh food that would otherwise end up in a landfill. The food is delivered to a network of food pantries throughout the metro Detroit, thereby assisting the growing number of food insecure people. A volunteer driven organization, licensed drivers with a vehicle are needed to bring food from pantries to drop-off sites, and loaders and unloaders are also needed for those locations.
