Pontiac-based Kids Empowered On the Move is a grassroots organization started in 1998 to assist homeless women and children. Before people become homeless, the group tries to work out solutions with a client’s current housing. If they’re already on the homelessness journey, Kids Empowered helps them navigate and move them forward. Clients get help with basic needs, including food, clothing, and shelter (which usually includes emergency hotel rooms). Other programs include Christmas and Easter “adoptions” and Book Buddy.
