International Holocaust Remembrance Day at the Maple Theatre

The Consulate of Italy in Detroit in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Society of Michigan hosted a screening of “A Starry Sky Above the Roman Ghetto” on Sunday, Jan. 30, at the Maple Theatre in Bloomfield Township to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Prior to the screening of the film, the event featured a screened interview of Dacia Maraini, a Nobel Prize nominee in literature who shared her first-hand recollection of her life in a concentration camp. Director Giulio Base also spoke about his relationship with the movie and why he chose to film it before the screening. // Photographs by Patrick Gloria
