InsideOut Literary Arts is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Detroit that seeks to help local youth build their literary and academic skills through creative writing. It offers many programs, including Writers-in-Resident for elementary, middle, and high schools to provide intensive weekly writing workshops, with students receiving the opportunity to be published in a professional literary journal. BookUp Detroit is a reading program designed by the National Book Foundation to encourage a lifelong love of reading, along with helping students build their personal libraries through field trips to local bookstores and Bookstock. It offers many more in school, after school, and community-based reading and writing programs.
