Focus: HOPE is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Detroit that has the stated goal of building a metropolitan community where all people can live in freedom and harmony by helping them overcome racism, poverty, and injustice. The organization, founded following Detroit’s 1967 riots by Fr. William T. Cunningham and Eleanor M. Josaitis, provides services like early childhood education to more than 200 children and peer-to-peer support for around 250 mothers, youth development programs during the school year and over the summer, and job training that is scholarship-based and free to most students. Focus: HOPE also provides food to seniors and advocates for the community.
