Fleece and Thank You is a nonprofit organization in Farmington Hills that provides comfort to children in hospitals in the form of fleece blankets and connections with the blankets’ makers. Fleece and Thank You and the Facebook group #LiftingUpTheFrontLines have teamed up to support those fighting the spread of the coronavirus. The movement seeks to encourage health care workers with thank-you messages. People can show their gratitude by uploading a video or picture message to the Fleece and Thank You website. These messages are distributed to workers across the United States, who can then send a response video back. Fleece and Thank You’s signature program provides colorful blankets and support to the patients in children’s hospitals. Supporters can send blankets and personal video messages for children undergoing treatment. This helps meet the need for blankets and gives children a connection while they are alone in hospital beds. Purchasing blanket kits directly from Fleece and Thank You enables the team to cover the cost of delivery and keep their service sustainable. The organization has partners in 13 states, including more than 20 hospitals in Michigan. Overall, 150,000-plus volunteers have made 70,000 blankets.
