Eversight is a nonprofit organization based in Ann Arbor with a mission to restore sight and prevent blindness through donations, research, and transplantations. The organization acts as an independent eye bank working with between donor families, health care professionals, surgeons, and researchers by providing donated eye tissues to save and improve sight. Some of the services it offers include evaluating and providing human eye tissue for transplantation, supporting research into the causes and cures of blinding eye conditions, promoting donation awareness through education, and providing humanitarian aid to people around the world in need of transplantations. Since its establishment in 1947, Eversight has been accredited by the Eye Bank Association of America. It also continuously works in collaboration with academic medical centers, eye banks, researchers, and surgeons in Michigan, Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio, and South Korea. In response to COVID-19, Eversight is continuing to adjust its protocols as new information of the disease is released. Individuals who are known or suspected to have had COVID-19 are automatically disqualified from donating eye tissue for transplantation. Additionally, all in-person events and programs have been suspended to minimize risk and protect the community. Golf for Good, the virtual Eversight 2020 Vision Classic, enables participants to support the organization by golfing at the course of their choice through Sept. 8 or participating in a silent auction.
