The DTE Energy Foundation strives to make a difference and support economic growth across Michigan. Through events and programming, the foundation states it generated more than $50 million in local economic activity last year. The foundation has organized events such as a free concert series, in addition to supporting organizations like the Motown Museum, which received $50,000 from DTE to aid in its expansion plan. The foundation has also given grants to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity of Michigan and Selah’s Center of Hope to help ensure people have basic human needs, including food and shelter. Late last year, the foundation gave $1 million to 45 domestic violence shelters funded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to help mitigate the financial strain caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
