The Detroit Area Agency on Aging is a nonprofit organization based in Detroit. Established in 1980, the entity serves older persons, adults with disabilities, and caregivers residing in Detroit, the Grosse Pointes, Hamtramck, Harper Woods, and Highland Park. The organization assists in removing social, economic, physical, and psychological barriers and creating aging-friendly neighborhoods through nutrition, health and wellness, and senior independence. The Detroit Area Agency on Aging offers programs and services that include nutrition services, health and wellness workshops, home care support, information and assistance, and more. They are one of 16 Area Agencies on Aging in Michigan and 622 in the nation.
