The Deaf Community Advocacy Network is 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Sylvan Lake — west of Bloomfield Hills — established in 1981 to connect deaf and hard of hearing people with the community through communication, advocacy, leadership, and socialization. Along with programs and workshops to connect the community, direct service is provided to approximately 100 individuals each month come to the DEAF C.A.N. for help with any number of things, and it is the only agency in Oakland County where a deaf individual can receive casework assistance from full-time staff fluent in American Sign Language.
