Cinema Detroit

Cinema Detroit is a nonprofit community-based cinema arts organization founded in 2013 to provide access to a wide variety of films, including commercial/first-run films, independent films, and those for and by people who have been historically excluded from the film industry. It provides a community gathering place for watching films of particular relevance to Detroiters, and for discussion of the issues they explore — especially identity, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and class. Once housed in a theater on Third Street in Detroit, Cinema Detroit has moved to a pop-up model while seeking another permanent space.
