The Children’s Foundation is a nonprofit organization in Detroit that supports children’s health through funding and advocacy. The organization awards grants to researchers and community organizers to fund innovations that can improve the health and wellness of children in Michigan. Formerly the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation, the foundation adopted its present name in 2019 to reflect its broader support for children’s hospitals throughout the state of Michigan, not just the organization’s namesake, the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. The Children’s Foundation’s current areas of focus include nutritional wellness, abuse and neglect, injury prevention, mental health, and oncology and cardiology research. The organization solicits donations to support research and establish new education and community outreach programs. The Children’s Foundation was established in 2003 and is the largest funder dedicated to advancing the health of children in Michigan. Since 2011, it has provided more than $58 million in grants to researchers.
