Charlotte’s Wings is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides new book donations to children and families dealing with a serious illness. The group says books can bring children a smile, a dream, or an escape from an unfortunate reality. The organization was founded in March 2008, inspired by the parents of a five-month-old, Charlotte, who passed due to a rare brain disease called Alexander’s Disease. The parents wanted to honor their daughter’s memory by donating hundreds of books to a local hospital. Today, the program has expanded and the group donates to hospitals, specialist outpatient clinics, and other organizations that support children and their families during a time of need.
