The Caring Hands Sarcoidosis Foundation in Sterling Heights was founded in 2009 to provide patient advocacy, educational materials, monthly meetings, and self-empowerment for people living with sarcoidosis, a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by small, non-cancerous lumps called granulomas in various organs of the body. Since 2009, it has become the nation’s leading nonprofit that assists sarcoidosis patients. The foundation also has launched events to recognize April as National Sarcoidosis Awareness Month along with its annual Sarcoidosis Retreat and Workshop.
