Brilliant Detroit is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building “kid success” families and neighborhoods. In doing so, it provides places for free services and support, so children and their families have what they need to be healthy, stable, and school ready. The organization partners with businesses, community organizations, families, and neighborhoods to align family services and systems so adolescents have the necessary environments and opportunities to thrive. It was created in 2015 to provide a new approach to kindergarten readiness. The idea was to create a unique early childhood development model by using underutilized housing stock to develop early child and family centers in neighborhoods. More than five years later, Brilliant Detroit continues to provide holistic services through evidence-based programs centered around education, family support, and health. Additionally, the organization has eight locations throughout the city of Detroit, with three more coming soon, that allow for community members to come together and provide support for families.
