Beyond Basics Garden Supper

Beyond Basics, a literacy nonprofit based in Southfield, hosted a Garden Supper fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 25, at a private residence in Bloomfield Hills. Close to 100 people enjoyed dinner, awards, a presentation, and live jazz music, and guests were invited to walk garden paths. Beyond Basics works with Detroit Public Schools Community District to get every student reading at grade level or higher, and is looking for support for its Be The Solution reading campaign that has received donations from General Motors Co., MassMutual Great Lakes, Clean Planet Foods, Roman Village Restaurant Group, and more. // Photographs by Patrick Gloria
