The Barton Malow Foundation was established in 1954, and the company has donated 5 percent of annual earnings to charitable organizations since. Using the Southfield-based company’s resources, the foundation has taken initiative to play roles in bettering the communities it exists within. In 2014, the foundation hosted its first Building Communities Golf Classic, raising almost $250,000 and becoming an annual fundraiser for charity. Regional offices host additional fundraising events throughout the year. The foundation also rolled out a Build Your Community Team Member Giving/Match campaign, through which employees can make donations by payroll deduction and have them matched by the foundation. In addition to financial support, the foundation hosts a Community Week, bringing employees into their communities to work on service projects.
