The Ave Maria Foundation in Ann Arbor supports institutions that promote Catholic life and culture. Organizations it supports include Ave Maria University, Ave Maria School of Law, Ave Maria Radio, Legatus, and the Thomas More Law Center. Ave Maria University was founded in Ypsilanti Township in 1998 by Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza, according to the Naples Daily News. He planned to move it to Domino’s Farms, his 280-acre Ann Arbor property, but plans for a new campus were denied zoning approvals. He moved the college to Florida in the summer of 2009. Michigan students make up 10 percent of the student body.
