Located in Pontiac, the Automotive Heritage Foundation creates and executes events and projects that honor and promote automotive history, culture, and aesthetics. The nonprofit was formed in 2019 to be the fiduciary and organizational structure for the organization’s Automotive Heritage Awards project and to create and develop other projects that focus on automotive heritage. Some projects include the lifetime achievement, concept vehicle, and future collectible awards. Awards are presented during the Concours d’Elegance of America at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth Township. The event traces its roots back to similar events featuring horse-drawn carriages in 17th century France. With the advent of automobiles, these events have evolved into competitions between automobile manufacturers, custom coachbuilders, and owners, whose vehicles are judged on the beauty of their design. The event is scheduled to take place July 23-25, 2021.
