The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Detroit Chapter serves as a resource for fundraisers in southeast Michigan. It has more than 300 members and seeks to foster the professional development and growth of fundraising professionals, enhance philanthropy and volunteerism, and promote the highest ethical standards in the fundraising profession worldwide. The chapter offers educational programs, networking events, and professional advancement opportunities and receives support through sponsorship of its activities. Its Be the Cause Campaign supports education, training, mentoring, and research, as well as diversity and inclusion initiatives and scholarships. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization has converted meetings and programs to a virtual format and launched a blog to host discussions regarding best practices and other information. In addition, the chapter is partnering with Detroit Public TV and Hour Media to bring the 2020 National Philanthropy Day awards to life on television and in print. The TV broadcast is scheduled for Nov. 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Detroit Public TV.
