Founded in 1993, the Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan in Rochester runs Operation School Bell, which provides new school clothing and necessities for elementary and middle school children, and young adults. The recipients select the clothing themselves. In addition, the organization’s Assault Survivor Program provides items for children and adult survivors of abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence whose clothing is destroyed by a perpetrator or retained as evidence as well as hygiene items. The Wee Help Program provides Safe Sleep packages and newborn starter kits including clothing items, diapers, a book, portable crib/bassinet, sheet, and wearable blanket at 24 hospitals/maternal programs in the Tri-County area.
