2024 St. Joseph Shrine Legacy Gala

St. Joseph Shrine, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and Victorian Gothic Catholic Church built in 1873 in Detroit’s Eastern Market area, hosted its 2024 Legacy Gala on Thursday, April 25, at St. Mary’s Cultural Center in Livonia. Funds from the event will support the historically accurate renovation of St. Joseph Shrine. The restoration began in 2016 and phase one was completed in 2019. Phase two involves the complete restoration and repair of the shrine’s stonework. Also included in phase two are the repair of four stained glass windows, replacing the church’s heating and electrical systems, and improving the church’s walkways and other infrastructure. The guest speaker was Monsignor Rudolf Michael Schmitz. Guests enjoyed s seated dinner, a live auction, and live music. // Photographs by Christine M.J. Hathaway
