2023 Lighthouse Rent Party
Lighthouse put on its seventh annual Rent Party at Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester Hills on June 11. The event raised money for Lighthouse’s efforts to help provide food and clothing to those in need. The evening featured cocktails, a dinner, and live music. Lighthouse is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2019 when the Lighthouse of Oakland County (LOC) and South Oakland Shelter (SOS) agencies merged. LOC was founded in 1972 and started with a group of volunteers who provided food and clothing from the back door of a local church. SOS was established in 1985 by seven religious groups in Oakland County. The new Lighthouse provides direct services (food, shelter, rental/utility, and other financial assistance, crisis referrals) and stability and housing programs that develop and support self-sufficiency. // Photos by Patrick Gloria
