The Detroit Public Safety Foundation hosted 2019 Women in Blue, a celebration of the women in the Detroit police and fire departments, on Thursday, April 4 at the MGM Grand Detroit. The police department’s Women in Blue officer of the year award went to Sandra Whitfield, and the fire department’s woman of the year award went to Verdine Day.
