Sardine Room, The

Restaurant Category: Seafood

  • Profile

New American shared plates and raw bar in the heart of downtown Plymouth. With clean-line decor and an eclectic menu that walks the line between comfort and sophistication, The Sardine Room manages to feel “big city” and “small town” at the same time. The long, narrow space has the lively, fresh vibe of an updated East Coast fish house, with brick walls painted a shiny white, tile flooring, and a glass-and stainless-steel display case filled with crushed ice displaying several varieties of fresh seafood. In the summer months, diners can be found slurping oysters and sipping cocktails on the restaurant’s sidewalk terrace patio, situated directly across the street from picturesque Kellogg Park. A small plates section features housemade gnocchi with braised goat, and mussels in a spicy green curry broth with chiles and fresh herbs. Large plates highlights include Michigan farm-raised shrimp and grits, and red hot brick chicken. Both use locally sourced proteins. Sunday Brunch is a must, featuring live music, drink specials, and a classic, but unique menu. Great “Buck-a- Shuck” happy hour showcases fresh oysters for only $1. A small but well curated wine list skews towards the boutique, while an excellent beer program centers on Michigan craft and international classics. Both the menu and the cocktail list change seasonally. D daily. Brunch Sunday.
