Robertson Brothers Homes in Bloomfield Township states it is revolutionizing the production home market by offering a Zero Energy Ready Home at its Margate community in Plymouth.
The grand opening of the Zero Energy Ready Home is set to take place on May 31, from 5-8 p.m. and will showcase the company’s commitment to making energy-efficient homes accessible for general homebuyers. The address is 45931 Spruce St.
Zero Energy Ready Homes are high-performance homes offering numerous structural and mechanical systems that would be difficult to retrofit after the home is completed.
The design sets up homeowners to add on energy-efficient and renewable energy systems that could offset most or all of their annual energy use. The homes are designed and built to meet rigorous efficiency and performance criteria set by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home Program.
By offering Zero Energy Ready Homes in the production market, Robertson Brothers Homes states it is taking a significant step toward a more sustainable and energy-efficient home for everyday homebuyers.
“Many homebuyers have a sincere interest in stainable and energy-efficient features, but don’t know where to start. Developing our Zero Energy Ready Home standard now gives a clear picture to everyday people for what is possible,” says Ebon Petty, vice president of sales and marketing at Robertson Brothers Homes.
The Margate Zero Energy Ready model home features a collection of energy-saving options and advanced building techniques, ranging from high-performance windows to advanced framing for reducing thermal bridging, efficient HVAC systems, and Energy Star-rated appliances and lighting solutions.
The features contribute to the home’s energy efficiency while also providing homeowners with significant long-term savings on utility costs, about $5,000 in energy costs alone, coupled with reduced environmental impacts.
“After developing this new collection of single-family home designs, our team knew the timing was right to develop a package of eco-friendly options that our customers could embrace to meet future energy efficiency goals,” says Bob Doil, COO of Robertson Brothers Homes.
Residential energy code experts D. R. Nelson & Associates stated: “For over 30 years, D.R. Nelson has been working with Robertson Brothers Homes to bring cost-effective building performance innovations from research to reality.”
The grand opening event will provide an opportunity for media and the public to learn more about Zero Energy Ready Home construction and will be the first opportunity to purchase this one-of-a-kind home.
