Following a one-year, $20-million expansion, Frankenmuth-based Zehnder’s Splash Village Hotel and Waterpark has added a giant-sized retractable roof that covers two distinct waterparks, more than doubling the size of the park to 50,000 square feet.

“We (also) expanded our hotel accommodations with an additional 32 guest rooms, 22 of which offer panoramic views of the waterpark,” says Al Zehnder, chairman and CEO, noting Splash Village offers a total of 178 guest rooms including 74 deluxe suites.

Zehnder says the new waterpark addition features a 20-person hot tub; a six-story raft ride; a six-story super loop body slide; and activity pool with water geysers. Private poolside cabanas — designed to accommodate up to 10 guests — include a mini refrigerator, safe, house phone, towels, flat-screen TV, and personalized food and beverage service. Guests can also dine in the new 75-seat Mushroom Grille.

The expansion project also doubled the number of waterpark locker rooms and expanded the indoor arcade to offer 45 games. Special grand opening hotel guestroom rates with waterpark passes are available through the end of the year.

“Our overall goal is to offer a four-season family vacation destination,” Zehnder says.
