A new restaurant offering Asian-infused cuisine, Zao Jun, will open Monday, May 6 in Bloomfield Township.

Located at 6608 Telegraph Rd. in the Bloomfield Plaza Shopping Center, the 184-seat Zao Jun is named for Chinese mythology’s stove prince or kitchen god. Specialties will offer family-style dishes included mandarin bang chicken and new takes on Asian favorites such as Japanese maki rolls and Thai street food such as Thai mango salad and coconut-flavored tom gai soup.

Lloyd Roberts, executive chef at Birmingham’s Adachi and former head chef at Nobu Budapest, will serve as executive chef. He trained under world-renowned Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Nobu Matsuhisa and has created a menu including dishes influenced by Thai, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Indonesian flavors.

“We want to have a lot of fun with the menu, so we’ve given Chef Roberts creative control to showcase his deep experience in Asian cultural cuisine,” says Clint Mansour, one of the creators of the restaurant.

Other creators include brothers Kenny Koza, Carlo Koza, and Derek Koza. The team also introduced Adachi Japanese Restaurant.

Zao Jun will feature an indoor dining room, an outdoor patio, and a full bar. More information soon will be available here.
