Rochester Hills-based Wright & Filippis has launched a wholly owned subsidiary as part of its strategic plan to increase investments in the company’s core business lines of prosthetics, orthotics, custom mobility products, and accessibility products.

Called A4 Access, the subsidiary will provide lifts, elevators, and ramps for both residential and commercial settings. It will also provide pool and spa lifts, as well as barrier-free home modifications to assist those with limited mobility.

“Accessibility has been an important, growing part of our business for many years and we felt that this segment of our operation would benefit from having its own brand and a chance to further distinguish itself in that marketplace,” says A.J. Filippis, CEO and chairman of Wright & Filippis.

Founded in 1944, Wright & Filippis is the state’s largest full-service home health care provider with 28 statewide offices.

Filippis says A4 Access is distinctive in that it has a dedicated staff of installation experts. The team includes fully licensed elevator journeymen who understand the many complexities and considerations involved in installing accessibility equipment.

“I know our A4 Access team is looking forward to telling its unique story to builders, architects, health care professionals and, of course, potential customers across Michigan,” Filippis says.
