Benton Harbor-based Whirlpool Corp. has partnered with Innit, a food technology platform, to offer customers a way to access thousands of digitized recipes, based on personalized dietary and taste preferences, through its connected appliances.

“Whirlpool Corp. has taken a leading role in introducing innovative connected appliances, and the Innit platform adds powerful and intuitive ways to connect food to the kitchen,” says Brett Dibkey, vice president of integrated business units at Whirlpool Corp.

The Innit platform, which will first be available through Whirlpool Corp.’s Jenn-Air brand of Wi-fi connected ovens, will feature recipes, personalized communication, how-to videos, automated cooking, and more.

The platform will allow consumers to access recipes from various content providers, such as Good Housekeeping, to create baby back ribs, whole chicken, chicken wings, salmon, whole sea bass, roasted broccoli, and more; and save their favorite recipes to share on social media.

Innit will also use connectivity technology to vary the temperature profile and cooking method of the Jenn-Air ovens.

“When most people cook a chicken they will set the oven to one temperature and cooking mode and leave it for a period of time,” Dibkey says. “By partnering with Innit, our Jenn-Air wall ovens will be able to utilize the full range of cooking modes and temperatures available to achieve a better (and) faster result.

Availability on all Jenn-Air connected wall ovens is planned for early next year.
