The new Von Maur department store in The Village of Rochester Hills is hosting a grand opening from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on March 19 — it’s the first new department store to open in metro Detroit since 2008.

Located at 400 N. Adams Road within The Village of Rochester Hills’ lifestyle center, the 122,000-square-foot, two-level outlet is Von Maur’s fourth in Michigan and 36th overall. It will employ approximately 150 people.

The “fashion department store” will showcase Von Maur’s signature amenities such as a live pianist who performs daily, complimentary gift-wrapping with any purchase, free ground shipping within the United States; as well as a rewards program with special offers including no-cost alterations, access to beauty events and services, and an interest-free charge card.

Customers will enjoy curated offerings across all categories including a shoe department, an assortment of cosmetics and beauty brands, a department, men’s suit shop, home décor, and a collection of the latest fashion brands and accessories by Polo Ralph Lauren, Eileen Fisher, Lilly Pulitzer, Vince Camuto, Tommy Bahama, Vineyard Vines, Kate Spade, Michael Stars, Louis Vuitton, Free People, Hugo Boss, Coach, and others.

“We are thrilled to be opening our store in Rochester Hills,” says Melody Wright, COO of Von Maur. “When the opportunity presented itself to be in The Village of Rochester Hills, we knew we found a home. Our standard of service, along with a uniquely curated merchandise assortment, makes us an excellent fit for the area.”

Bruce Aikens, vice chairman of Birmingham-based Robert B. Aikens & Associates, the developers of The Village of Rochester Hills, says, “The history of the boutique family-owned department store in Rochester Hills stretches back 50 years to the days of the beloved Jacobson’s store in the original Great Oaks Mall.

“As we considered this responsibility of ours to fill a large vacant space at the Village, we knew Von Maur, a storied Midwestern company celebrating its 150th year in business, would meet a deep need in our community, and become a beloved institution; just as Jacobson’s was.”

The grand opening will begin at 9:45 a.m. on March 19. The opening day event will feature a DJ and live music, balloon artists, a selfie station, and a coloring station in the children’s department. Guests will have the chance to win prizes and gifts with every purchase.
