1979

Tropical Smoothie Cafe, a fast-casual smoothie and health food restaurant, announced it’s targeting southeastern Michigan for franchise growth, and plans to open more than six locations throughout Wayne and Washtenaw counties within the next three years.

“Healthy lifestyles and better-for-you food choices are important to people in Detroit, and Tropical Smoothie Cafe is just starting to make its mark on the area…,” says Craig LeMieux, area developer for Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

Currently, there are Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations in Clawson, Rochester Hills, Livonia, Macomb Township, Dearborn, West Bloomfield, Brighton, and Ann Arbor, among others in Michigan. The company is looking to open restaurants in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, Canton Township, and Plymouth, among other cities.

The restaurant offers smoothies using combinations of fruits such as kiwis, strawberries, mangoes, pineapples, blueberries, and raspberries. Smoothies made with kale, spinach, and acai are also offered, along with dessert-style smoothies. Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations serve breakfast, and offer options such as wraps, tacos, and salads throughout the day.

Company executives will host an event on June 24 at the restaurant in Dearborn so local entrepreneurs can learn about franchise opportunities. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is looking for people with business experience, $100,000 in liquid assets, and an initial investment of about $166,000 to $415,000.
