A vintage 1974 Airstream Land Yacht RV has found a new purpose as a traveling cigar lounge and party bus following nearly $50,000 in renovations.

The Cuban Missile Lounge, which seats up to 15 people, features a stocked humidor with a rotating cigar selection, Brazilian cherry wood flooring, hardwood wall panels, a flat screen HD TV, a mini-fridge, and an ice tub to keep beverages cold.

If notified in advance, the business can secure just about any cigar a customer wants. Most cigars in rotation range in price from $8 to $25 each.

“Airstreams have a very iconic look and are instantly recognizable as a cherished piece of our country’s nomadic, wanderlust tradition,” says Brian Maynard, who first purchased the vehicle for $3,700 with his brother and business partner Jason Maynard. “They conjure up images of family memories, the old days when things were simpler, and the panache of a unique, luxurious environment.”

The Brighton-based trailer, owned by Brian and Jason’s new company, Unbolted Entertainment, has been on the road for three months. The duo hopes to add another five to 10 trailers, stationed throughout Michigan, to their offering, and are exploring the possibility of franchising their concept.

“We’re looking to build a big regional presence,” says Jason, who also owns Champion Outdoor Pros, a lawn/snow business in Brighton. “To our knowledge, we have no direct competition, so the time is ripe. There are some companies setting up cigar tents at festivals, but there is certainly nothing like this trailer anywhere in the Midwest of which we are aware.”

The trailer costs $500 to rent for four hours and $800 for eight hours. For more information, call 248-756-8428 or visit cubanmissilelounge.com.
