The Townsend Hotel has promoted Adrienne Cousins to general manager. Cousins brings more than 16 years of hospitality experience to the luxury downtown Birmingham hotel.
In her new role, Cousins will oversee day-to-day management and operations while continuing to provide guest experiences.
“Adrienne has always been a leader in her tenure with The Townsend Hotel,” says Sheldon Yellen, managing partner of the Townsend Hotel. “Her natural ability to connect with people will continue to flourish as she continues to build the beloved property into its next chapter of excellence.”
Cousins has been with The Townsend Hotel for 11 years, starting first as the property’s business travel sales manager, quickly growing the transient and extended-stay business segments until she was promoted to director of revenue in 2015.
Cousins started her career with Hyatt’s Corporate Management Training program in 2007 at Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago. She moved through various operational roles and worked with Hyatt Corporate on innovative beta testing ideas for the company, earning their team the first ever “CEO’s Award for Innovation.” She received her degree from Bowling Green State University in business administration with a specialization in Hospitality Management.
For the past eight years, Cousins has been a member of Impact100 Oakland County, a 501(c)3 non-profit that brings women together to engage in large-scale collective giving to support nonprofits serving Oakland County. She was a member of the founding board of directors.
“I am honored to continue my career as a part of the incredibly talented and dedicated team here at The Townsend Hotel.” says Cousins. “We are all committed to further enhancing our luxury brand and offering an unrivaled experience for all guests of the hotel and restaurant.”
Cousins takes over as general manager from Steven Kalczynski, who left Michigan to become managing director of Lotte Hotel Seattle in February.
The Townsend Hotel is celebrating 35 years of being in business this year.
