TopGolf, a national retailer that combines technology with sports and entertainment, today announced its first Michigan location will be a 65,000-square-foot venue at I-75 and Joslyn Road in Auburn Hills.

The tri-level facility will feature 102 climate-controlled hitting bays offering year-round programming, private event space for corporate and social gatherings, a chef-driven menu, a cocktail bar, big screen televisions, and music.

TopGolf users of all ages and skill levels can enjoy point-scoring by using microchipped balls that score themselves, showing players the accuracy and distance of their shots on a television screen in their hitting bay. The Auburn Hills venue is expected to attract 450,000 visitors during its first year of operation, with half expected to be non-golfers.

“During the past few months, Detroit has gotten a taste of TopGolf, thanks to the TopGolf Swing Suite inside the MGM Grand Detroit,” says Chris Callaway, the company’s chief development officer. “We are excited to expand our investment in the Detroit-Auburn Hills market and create great times for all at our new TopGolf venue.”

TopGolf currently operates 40 venues worldwide and entertains 13 million guests annually. The company’s expansion is expected to create 500 full and part-time jobs in Auburn Hills. Progress on the venue can be tracked here.
