The National Business League today announced the United States Patent and Trademark Office has officially registered two trademarks for “The Detroit Black Chamber of Commerce.”

Founded in 1900 by Dr. Booker T. Washington, The National Business League is the first and largest trade organization dedicated to the economic empowerment of Black businesses and entrepreneurs.

The trademark registration numbers, 7466002 and 7466003, mark a significant milestone in the league’s efforts to foster economic growth and opportunities for Black businesses in Detroit and beyond, says Kenneth L. Harris, president and CEO of The National Business League, who is based in Detroit.

The trademarks reinforce the Chamber’s brand identity, legal protection and security ensuring its “exclusive” use in promoting the interests of Black entrepreneurs.

The National Business League, which has its headquarters in Tuskegee, Ala., continues its mission to empower Black businesses nationwide, with The Detroit Black Chamber of Commerce playing a crucial role in this endeavor. This landmark achievement underscores NBL’s commitment to creating a thriving environment for Black entrepreneurs and business leaders, Harris says.

The Detroit Black Chamber of Commerce is located in Suite 910 of the 1001 Woodward Building, which overlooks Campus Martius Park from the north.
