TechTown’s Junction440 to Host Open House During Co-Lab Detroit Week

TechTown Detroit will host an open house at Junction440, a co-working space at 440 Burroughs in Midtown, on Jan. 21 as part of Co-Lab Detroit, a weeklong event that introduces entrepreneurs to several other co-working facilities in the city. The official opening comes after a one-month beta test.

“Co-Lab Detroit is the perfect opportunity for us to unveil our brand-new space to entrepreneurs seeking an affordable, flexible, and collaborative work environment in the city,” says Leslie Smith, president and CEO of TechTown Detroit. “The spirit of partnership among the co-working spaces is refreshing, and we intend to continue this collaboration as we each work to support a powerful community of engaged and connected entrepreneurs.”

Junction440 is part of TechTown’s $1.5 million, 20,000-square-foot first-floor renovation, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The open floor plan includes rentable event space ranging from approximately 150 to 1,800 square feet; with small office rooms with phones and study lounges; and an open kitchen for local food entrepreneurs to test their products.

“This space will become a hotbed of innovation, a dwelling for serendipitous encounters, and a catalyst for the redevelopment of Midtown’s broader innovation district,” Smith says.

Memberships range from day passes ($20) to monthly memberships with a dedicated desk ($250-$375). Free parking, Wi-Fi, and printing services are included.

As part of Co-Lab Detroit, sponsored by the Detroit Economic Growth Corp., seven co-working spaces will host an open house and special event during the week of Jan. 20.
