TCF Financial Corp. Introduces New Board of Directors

Detroit-based TCF Financial Corp. has introduced its board of directors following the successful closing of the merger of equals between TCF Financial Corp. (legacy TCF) and Chemical Financial Corp. The board of directors is comprised of 16 people, eight from the original TCF and eight from Chemical.

Detroit-based TCF Financial Corp. has introduced its board of directors following the successful closing of the merger of equals between TCF Financial Corp. (legacy TCF) and Chemical Financial Corp. The board of directors is comprised of 16 people, eight from the original TCF and eight from Chemical.

“We have assembled a strong board of directors that brings complementary strengths and deep expertise from both organizations,” says Gary Torgow, executive chairman of the TCF board of directors. “The board is comprised of accomplished leaders with decades of experience who I am confident will provide strong leadership and governance to the new TCF board while driving long-term shareholder value.”

It was announced previously that Torgrow, who was chairman at Chemical before the merger, would be executive chairman of the new board. David T. Provost, formerly Chemical’s president and CEO, is executive vice chairman of the new TCF board. Vance K. Opperman, former lead director at legacy TCF, will assume the same role on the new panel. Craig R. Dahl, former president and CEO at legacy TCF, assumes the same position in the new company.

  • Richard H. King, EVP, operations at Thomson Reuters, TCF
  • Roger J. Sit, CEO, global chief investment officer and director at Sit Investment Associates, TCF
  • Julie H. Sullivan, president at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, TCF
  • Theresa M. H. Wise, CEO and principal of Utaza, TCF
  • Ronald A. Klein, director and CEO, of Origen Financial Inc., Chemical
  • Barbara J. Mahone, retired executive director of human resources at General Motors Co., Chemical
  • Barbara L. McQuade, law professor at the University of Michigan, Chemical
  • Jeffrey L. Tate, vice president and business finance director of packaging and specialty plastics segment at The Dow Chemical Co., Chemical
  • Arthur A. Weiss, shareholder and chairman of the board at Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer & Weiss, Chemical
  • Franklin C. Wheatlake, chairman, of Utility Supply and Construction Co., Chemical
