Systems in Motion, an IT consulting and app management firm, plans to hire about 150 new employees in the next year, and the majority of the positions are expected to be at its facility in Pittsfield Township, near Ann Arbor.

“The biggest hurdle to a company’s growth is finding the right talent,” says Colin Chapman, vice president and general manager at SIM. “We believe that the creative ways we add great people to our team, the work we do with local universities, local government organizations, and technical retraining programs will be integral to our future success.”

The Newark, Calif.-based firm first opened its “inshore” IT services facility in Washtenaw County in 2009, following approval of a $7.4 million state tax credit. Last year, the company expanded its staff by 50 percent.

The company’s client roster includes Thomson Reuters, Alltel, Magellan, and Zephyr. In December, Systems in Motion acquired Claritics, which operates a cloud-based platform that analyzes social, mobile, and web date in real time.

“Having gotten to the size we are at now, we are focusing more on creating a great environment for our current employees and making sure that they enjoy working here and get the development opportunities to continue to grow professionally,” says Sarah Harper, human resources manager at SIM.

Although the company — which currently employs more than 200 at its Pittsfield Charter Township delivery center — is hiring employees at various levels of expertise, it is focused on recruiting recent college graduates from computer science and computer engineering programs to fill junior level positions.
