Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez! has opened its third location — its first outside metro Detroit, in East Lansing — launching plans of a national expansion that will include restaurants in Chicago and Toledo, with more to come.
With locations in Troy and Auburn Hills, Sweet Lorraine’s first Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez! franchise is set to open in Detroit’s Renaissance Center later this month, while a company-owned location will open in Detroit’s Midtown area near Wayne State University in January.
“Customers are looking for fun, high-quality food on the go and Lorraine has created the perfect menu for that lifestyle,” says Gary Sussman, president and CEO of Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez! in Southfield. “We’re excited to introduce Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez! to East Lansing with the opening of our first college town location.”
The fast casual restaurant allows customers to create a personalized macaroni and cheese dish, selecting among 38 different ingredients or toppings. The restaurant also will offer salads and sandwiches, along with vegan and gluten-free products.
“In addition to serving up any and all imaginable combinations of mac n’ cheese, we also source natural and local ingredients,” says chef and co-owner Lorraine Platman, who became known for her macaroni and cheese through her existing Sweet Lorraine’s restaurants in Southfield and Livonia.
She notes that the company is looking at additional college towns — Ann Arbor included — to open both company and franchised locations.
The East Lansing location, at 547 E. Grand River, is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 517-325-0850 or visit macncheez.com.
