Strategic Staffing Solutions, a Detroit-based IT and business services company, today launched a website offering military veterans, spouses, and dependents advice on translating military experience into desired civilian job skills, a job listing database, and resume help.
“When you’re retiring from the military or separating after your initial service obligation, transitioning from the Armed Forces to ‘corporate America’ can be a daunting challenge,” says Ken Huxley, S3’s Southwest branch manager, and a retired member of the U.S. Air Force, who helps manage the company’s veteran employment program.
“We know that veterans are uniquely equipped to transfer their skill sets into different industries, and with our nationwide presence, S3 is well-positioned to offer resources and support to the military community across the country,” Huxley says.
S3 first launched its veteran employment program as a pilot program in 2013. The company’s military sourcing team has already placed 350 consultants with various customers this year alone, says Cynthia J. Pasky, president and CEO of S3.
“We believe this new dedicated web page will help us to accelerate those efforts,” Pasky says. “Our military recruitment program is the perfect union of our pride in our country and our support for our communities. We are helping serve the employment needs of those who served to protect our freedoms.”
In addition to launching the website, veterans.strategicstaff.com, S3 announced today it will participate in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s “Hiring 500,000 Heroes” program, an initiative to work with businesses across the country to make commitments to hire 500,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014.
