Stellantis in Auburn Hills is launching MyTasks, an industry first tool for fleet managers enabling real-time communication, task assignment. and status updates with drivers in the field via the vehicle’s built-in infotainment unit.

MyTasks provides benefits to both drivers and fleet managers, according to Stellantis. Drivers do not need to fumble with a mobile phone, reducing distractions, and managers do not need aftermarket accessories, enhancing efficiency and safety.

The application is a patented interface between manager and driver, using over-the-air capability and updates. Through an over-the-air update, MyTasks also will be available on existing Stellantis vehicles in the field today equipped with compatible communication technology and infotainment units.

MyTasks enables fleet managers or dispatchers to assign tasks or change schedules of individual drivers via an online portal. Vehicle drivers then get an instant notification of assignments via a pop-up message in the vehicle’s infotainment screen. The connected system allows drivers to send their assigned destination to the vehicle’s navigation system for routing and provides dispatchers the status of each task.

“A breakthrough tool like MyTasks is the result of when we put our customers’ needs above all else,” says Yves Bonnefont, chief software officer at Stellantis. “We know that our B2B customers value efficiency and safety for their drivers and their fleets and we are using the capabilities built into our vehicles to cut down on the potential distractions and deliver key information to make their job easier.”

The Free2move vehicle rental company will add MyTasks to its commercial offer, completing the already existing business solutions such as Preventive Maintenance and Connect Fleet. The service also can be made available via API integration to all Stellantis B2B partners that already have a tool to plan daily fleet activities.

Pro One, the Stellantis Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, will be the first to offer this technology. MyTasks will be available in the first half of this year in Europe on compact and mid-size vans from the Citroën, FIAT Professional, Opel, Peugeot, and Vauxhall brands. Availability will expand by the end of this year to large vans and compatible passenger cars in Europe and commercial vehicles in North America.

In other Stellantis-related news: The automaker announced a partnership with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to achieve its ambition to be carbon net zero by 2038.

As part of the agreement with CARB, Stellantis pledged to expand its ongoing commitment to strengthen its electrification offensive through educational efforts for U.S. consumers and dealers on the benefits of electric vehicles (EV). This includes collaborating with Veloz, which promotes EV awareness, providing discounted EVs to organizations in disadvantaged communities, building on ongoing efforts, and contributing an additional $10 million for the installation of public EV chargers.

“Together, we have found a win-win solution that is good for the customer and good for the planet,” says Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis. “This agreement will avoid 10 to 12 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the lifetime of the agreement and will also allow our U.S. customers to fully benefit from our advanced technologies, including five plug-in hybrids and two pure electric vehicles. We remain as determined as ever to offer sustainable options across our brand portfolio and being a leader in the global decarbonization efforts.”

CARB Chair Liane Randolph says: “California’s work with leading manufacturers is an example of the collaboration that will clean our air, combat climate change, and improve health outcomes for residents in the state. Importantly, industry collaboration helps accelerate the deployment of zero-emissions options that will make a more sustainable future possible.”
