With reports citing that 78 percent of all shoppers use the Internet to research and make purchasing decisions, Southfield-based Mars Advertising Inc. is upping its game by teaming with a digital creative agency to expand its shopper marketing efforts through digital platforms including search, social, and e-commerce.

Through a new partnership, Mars and Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Nomadic Agency will focus on projects like retail-specific shopper solutions that benefit from digital extension and campaigns that require integration with retailer digital platforms. As part of the effort, eight employees will be hired and will work at Mars, and will be supported by the Scottsdale office.

“It’s important to us to that the digital group inside of Mars is an extension of a digital organization, instead of one that’s isolated in a traditional one,” says Eliza Bianco, a Mars spokeswoman. “Since the digital group will be an extension of Nomadic, they will work for digital leaders and have access to additional digital resources. This will allow the group access to insight, projects, (and) resources they would otherwise not have.”

The partnership will allow Mars — whose clients include Pfizer, Hallmark, and Walmart — to “remain innovative in today’s digital age and are able to continue building a broader portfolio of services for our clients,” says Rob Rivenburgh, Mars’ COO.

Founded in 1972, Mars with 11 locations throughout North America and the United Kingdom, has more than 300 employees.
