Benzinga, a Southfield-based media company that offers investors real-time market data, has launched a platform company officials say provides more accurate and unique financial data sets, called Benzinga Cloud.

“Benzinga Cloud will deliver unique data sets from several data vendors to quants (experts in analyzing and managing quantitative data), hedge funds, trading platforms, and brokerages in one easy (application program interface),” says Jason Raznick, CEO of Benzinga.

Third-party data providers contributing to the platform include Capital Market Labs, a provider of big data visualization software; ClosingBell, a supplier of crowd-sourced stock tips; Estimize, a crowd-sourced estimates vendor; GovBrain, which analyzes political data to create trade ideas; Insider Insights, a provider of insider trading data; and Vetr, a vendor of crowd-sourced stock ratings.

The information is provided in the form of a real-time newsfeed, a financial calendar, data, and newsletters.

Financial technology startups and niche data providers can offer their third-party services on Benzinga through its Benzinga Cloud Playground.

Benzinga, launched in 2010, writes and distributes financial articles, and offers investment webinars, online courses on trading, and a platform where users can follow an expert who makes trades.
