Atwell, an engineering and construction services firm in Southfield, has acquired an urban design and landscape architecture firm in Oakland, Calif. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“The opportunity to both enhance our existing design-related services and bring on a great group of people was attractive,” says Atwell president and CEO Brian Wenzel.
Golden Associates Landscape Architects offers design services including construction documents, conceptual design, and community branding. Clients include the Bay Area Rapid Transit system and the city of Oakland.
Leslie Golden, founder of the 12-employee company, will become vice president of urban design and landscape architecture for Atwell and all Golden employees also will join Atwell.
Atwell has 550 employees and 15 offices across the U.S. and Canada, including Ann Arbor, Toronto, and Houston. They will now operate Golden Associates’ offices in Oakland.
Over the past few years, Atwell has expanded, acquiring a civil engineering firm in Scottsdale, Ariz. and Denver-based Peak Power Engineering, which provides electrical engineering solutions for utility scale power generation systems.
