New Order Coffee Roasters, a new small batch roasting coffee company, is slated to open its first storefront in Detroit’s Midtown neighborhood this winter.

The new 2,000-square-foot shop will be located on the main floor of the Crystal Loft Building, 3100 Woodward Ave., and be adjacent to Grey Ghost Detroit, a seasonal, meat-focused restaurant that is expected to open this month.

The shop will offer 40 or more seats and a menu with traditional coffee drinks, such as pour-overs, espresso, lattés, and cappuccinos, as well as a rotating list of local baked goods, including croissants, muffins, and pastries.

New Order Coffee Roasters will also use air bed roasters, a technology that will help the company roast coffee beans in store, and offer an on-demand roasting option, which will allow patrons to customize their order by choosing the type of roast and blend they prefer.

“Our New Order team will strive to deliver the best tasting coffee possible, in a welcoming and stylized atmosphere,” says Elizabeth Rose, owner of New Order Coffee Roasters. “We hope to be one of the cornerstones of the (Midtown and Brush Park) neighborhoods.”

She says the coffee shop, which is looking to expand to Ferndale next year, will strive to serve as a place where local businesses can hold meetings, and remote and freelance employees can work.
