Bamboo Detroit, a co-working space community, and MP Consulting Group, a Detroit-based nonprofit consulting firm, will co-host the second annual Detroit Nonprofit Day Conference from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 15 at the University of Detroit Mercy’s Center for Social Entrepreneurship.

The conference will provide attendees with the knowledge and skills required to grow their organizations’ operations as well as meet the needs of those they serve.

The event will feature a networking breakfast and lunch and three track sessions for participants to choose from. Tonya Allen, president and CEO of the Skillman Foundation, will serve as keynote speaker. Representatives from other philanthropic organizations, such as Brilliant Detroit, LifeBUILDERS, and the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy, will also speak.

Bamboo Detroit has been providing traditional office spaces available for rent by the hour, day, week, or longer in downtown Detroit since 2013. MP Consulting Firm is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the acquisition of resources for nonprofits, academic institutions, government institutions, small businesses, and other agencies.

Detroit Nonprofit Day was created last year after the successful #GetFunded grant writing workshop. MP Consulting Group, Bamboo Detroit, and the University of Detroit Mercy partnered to create a full day of learning and strength-building activities for individuals interested in starting or growing their nonprofits.

The conference will kick off with an evening soiree from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 14. The soiree will be hosted by Co.act Detroit, a nonprofit innovation center. Soiree attendees will be able to meet face-to-face with speakers, leaders, and up-and-coming innovators at the event. Individuals may purchase tickets for the soiree for $50.

New Economy Initiative, Detroit Nonprofit Day’s largest sponsor, will sponsor the breakfast. University of Detroit Mercy’s Center for Social Entrepreneurship, Co.act Detroit, Strategic Community Partners, Techtown Detroit, and Accelerate 4 Kids are also conference sponsors.
