Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Canton Township, and Integrated Healthcare Associates in Ann Arbor today announced they will build a health center on Schoolcraft’s main campus. The first phase will include a $31-million, 80,000-square-foot building.

“This health center will bring leading physicians and health services to the campus as well as create educational opportunities that will enable students to fill needed jobs in the health-care industry,” says Rob Casalou, president and CEO of Mercy Health and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. “In addition, this new site is part of our larger plan to improve access to ambulatory care services in the communities we serve across Michigan.”

The building will be located on the northeast quadrant of the campus (18600 Haggerty Rd., between Six Mile and Seven Mile roads). A groundbreaking is scheduled for this fall, and the space will offer primary, specialty, and urgent care and ancillary and advanced imaging services. A subsequent phase with additional clinical programs and services is in the planning stages.

The center will support the college’s health care and health sciences programs and offer hands-on educational opportunities. The school offers majors and programs in nursing, pharmacy, health information technology, and medical assisting and plans to launch an advanced imaging program for radiation technology students.

Saint Joseph Mercy Health System already supports the St. Joe’s Sports Dome on campus and operates its MercyElite Sports Performance program in partnership with Schoolcraft’s SC Elite Program, providing athletic training, physical therapy, and health and nutritional services.

Integrated Healthcare Associates recently assumed responsibility for the urgent care center currently operating on the campus. It also established an internal and family medicine practice in the same building.

Schoolcraft College is a public community college and serves more than 30,000 students each year.

Saint Joseph Mercy Health System is a member of Trinity Health, a Catholic health care system that operates in 22 states.

Integrated Healthcare Associates is a physician group that employs more than 700 providers in about 74 practice locations in southeast Michigan.
